      Q: What is Cacidi Batch?
A: Cacidi Batchis a plug-in for Adobe InDesign that extends the manual Adobe InDesign functionality of converting QuarkXPress, PageMaker and Adobe InDesign documents to Adobe InDesign format. Adobe InDesign will by it's standard feature set let you manually one by one select, open, convert and save QuarkXPress (up to version 4.1), PageMaker (up to version 6 and 6.5 with the PageMaker plug-in) and previous versions of Adobe InDesign documents in Adobe InDesign format after conversion.
Imagine having a legacy of hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands of documents that you need to convert. This will be a very time consuming and in some instances even unrealistic task to perform manually.
Cacidi Batch allows you to with one click select an entire folder or volume containing documents in the supported formats, and then automatically in a batch process open the documents and save in Adobe InDesign format, with no user intervention at all. Automating this task saves a huge amount of time, allowing you to for instance start up a document batch process at night, and come back into the office next morning and see all the documents re-saved in Adobe InDesign format.

Q: When will Batch support Quark Xpress 5 and 6 format?
A: When and if Adobe brings the format reader into InDesign, we will support these formats as well.

Q: What if content such as fonts or image links are not available in the document?
A: Cacidi Batch is designed to deliberately ignore this and open and save the document in Adobe InDesign format anyway. There's an optional feature in the Batch settings that creates a log file. The log file contains information which documents converted successfully and which ones converted with errors (such as missing fonts or image links). The main purpose of Batch is to automatically convert large amounts of documents to Adobe InDesign, to then be re-worked and re-linked, etc. if necessary.

Q: When my print service provider opens the document he gets a "Missing plug-in" alert. Why?
A: A data field with information about the job has been added to the document, the print service provider can ignore the message and click OK to open the document. The job will be printed without problems.

Q: What are the system requirements for Cacidi Batch?
A: A computer running Windows 2000, Windows XP or Mac OS X, and Adobe InDesign.

Q: How do I install Cacidi Batch?
A: After downloading Cacidi Batch, copy the Cacidi plug-ins folder to the "Plug-Ins" folder withing the Adobe InDesign application folder. After launching Adobe InDesign, you will find the Batch menu item in the Adobe InDesign "File" menu.

Q: Can I try out Cacidi Batch to see if it's the right product for me before I decide to buy it?
A: Absolutely. When you start to use the plug-in, you are allowed to work with the software for 2 weeks before you have to enter a serial number in the "Activation" menu.

Q: After the trial period, when I decide to buy Cacidi Batch, how do I enter my serial number?
A: Enter your purchased serial number in the "Activation" menu and click "Activate".
